Hey all you crazy Cats'n'Kittens out there,
"Springtime at
Swingtime". The date for the Swingtime Springtime Vintage Fair and Afternoon Dance
has been set as Sunday 7th
December, and there has been a great deal of interest already, both from
potential stallholders and people looking for clothing and accessories so now is
the time for sellers to get into the act. We have had an indication from five
people now to have a stall and have set a structure for hiring space. An area
two metres by two metres will cost $50 and a double space will be $85. The Fair
will run from 11am till 4pm and the doors will be open early for stallholders to
bring in stock and hanging racks/ tables etc. Stall holders need not be
individuals but could be groups of friends and there may be a consignment stall
if there is enough interest from sellers of small numbers of items.
To be fair (no pun intended) to all it has been decided that bookings should be
by way of a deposit and choice of position will be based on the order of
bookings. A plan of the area will be available shortly and those unfamiliar with
the studio are welcome to visit the venue when it is open for classes on
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights between 7pm and 9pm.
If you have an interest in being part of the
Swingtime Springtime Vintage Fair would you please contact Bruce or Sharon as soon as possible or Email a reply back to us or ring us - Jim on 0419 498 578 or Margie on 0410 668 995. Bruce and Sharon can be contacted on 0402 489 967 or you can Email them at

WHAT'S NEWS IN
ROCKABILLY/ROCK'N'ROLL/COUNTRY
Still a bit quiet on
the Rockabilly scene we hear you say! Not any more! Rockabilly is back in force.
In the next four weeks you can expect "Rough Rockin' at The Vic" with Wes Pudsey and the Sonic
Aces ,
the Red Hot Rockabilly Revue Christmas Dance, Wes Pudsey and the Sonic
Aces playing at various venues plus more Sunday night Restless
Rockabilly and Grizzly Adam's Rockabilly Hangout on the second and
fourth Wednesday of each month. On top of that, The Detonators are heading north
on their CD release tour early in December.
Our first Restless
Rockabilly at Unity Hall last Sunday was quite successful for
the first night with over fifty people who came and had a great time. The management seemed
happy and keen to have us back so we will keep you posted on more possible Restless
Rockabilly nights.
Last week we mentioned
our Red Hot Rockabilly Revue Christmas Dance which is to be held at The
Manning Bar on Saturday 13th December with headline band, Billy and The
Burnouts from Melbourne. We are now very pleased to announce that we have
been able to secure The Creepers as the support band for the night. The
Creepers have just had a break of a couple of months whilst working on some new
material plus some of their great Rockabilly standards, so the band is raring to
get back in front of an audience. With these two bands pumping out their very
best, we can promise you an all dancing Hot Rockin' night. The Manning Bar is a great
venue as those who came to our last Red Hot Rockabilly Revue
will attest to, so if you haven't been before ask around. If you want to
check it out yourself, have a look at the photos page on our Webpage at Limpin'
Jimmy and The Swingin' Kitten
THE SWING/SOPHISTICAT SCENE
We try not
to review gigs as we feel that we like to focus on the future and not the
past. However, we are making an exception with The Hollywood Hombres
who played last Friday night at Soup Plus in the City. Feedback from people who were
there was that this was a great gig with one person saying they were bursting to
dance as the music was so good. Not the first comment we have had about this.
The venue was packed all night and the crowd was very responsive to the music of
this great Sydney band. Are we biased? Sure we are! We just love these guys for
bringing live to stage, the great Jump Blues and Swing music of the 1940's. Watch out for
them playing at venues soon. You won't be disappointed.
Whilst we are still on the Swing scene, Swingtime Dance Studio
are holding their Christmas Dance at Auburn RSL on Saturday 13th December
featuring The Radium Club Hepsters and The Flaming Stars in what promises to be
a huge night of Swing/Rock'n'Roll. Tickets are $15 dollars and can be obtained
by ringing
Sharon or Bruce (Swingtime) for information on 0402 489 967 or Email them at
garagegroove@ozemail.com.au

usually limited to their Christmas Parties which are always sold out, so if you
are interested, don't delay getting your tickets. A number have been sold
already.
