There is not alot that needs to be
done to the mast. Infact, all we have to do is find the curve
of each mast section and add some lines on the mast to aid
adjustment and rigging.
Step one- Finding the curve
Place your mast sections on two round
poles/masts on a flat surface and then give them a little
push. With the masts rolling over the poles, let them settle
to a resting state and place a paint mark on the top side
of your mast. Make sure to mark the bottom section at the
top and the bottom of the mast.
Marking the bottom section of the mast.
For this task you will have to rig
your sail to mark the areas which need to be painted. Use
your Masking tape to make a straight line all around the mast.
On the bottom section of your mast
you should make eight marks. One group of six marks to help
as a visual aid at the top of the luff cut out, another where
you tie the downhaul to the mast and the last at the lowest
point where your boom attachment at it's lowest setting.
Note: the group of six marks should have
no two adjacent lines of the same color's.
