Mistral Downhaul

Setting up a Mistral One-Design Downhaul Systems

Dounhaul #1
Downhaul #2
Dounhaul #3
Here are three different types of down haul systems which all are functional. All these sysems are using Harken pulleys and blocks. These are the best blocks for use on the Mistral sailboard. Others have been used and are not as functional , the cost might be a little higher but you will save in the long run!

Rope needed for these Systems

When connecting the system to the mast you should use 6mm rope Within System you should use 5mm Rope To connect the system to the sail you should use 4mm rope, or better still Spectra Core. Note: Use sticky tape around the end of the spectra core so you can easliy thread it threw you pulley blocks.

NOTE: When setting up a down haul system try and keep it as close to the boom as you can. If you have your downhaul down low thaen you will have to reach down far when adjusting. You should be adjusting you settings on both your downhaul and outhaul often. So if you make it easy to adjust then you will be able to keep your sail in good tune more of the time.
